Tournaments
Trying out a few tournaments on Paradise and Party Poker. The Super Tuesday on Party. The $35k guarantee on Paradise. Just lost my first buy-in and addon on Paradise when I got pocket Kings cracked. One guy had half of my chips with Jacks and hit the jack on the flop. The other guy had me covered with QTo and rivered his T. Didn't need that to happen.
About two hands later on the Party Super Tuesday I got kings and doubled up, so I guess it evens out.
Couple things I don't like about Party Poker... first, they only start you off with 1000 in chips. Second, they don't have antes. You play the whole tournament pretty much like a PL tournament. I like Paradise... only problem with that site is the blinds go up too quick... 12 minutes as opposed to the standard 15. Not that big of a difference, but what's the hurry?

Wish me luck... first in the Super Tuesday is over $20k.

Just started reading your blog dutch... big fan of yours. I like your style...
I actually talked to you over AIM a year or so ago about buying my Ulitmate Bet STONE COLD NUTS seat.. but alas those asswhipes wouldn't let me sell it to you.
Good luck in the BAY101 tourney.. I'm hoping to qualify for it as well.
Also.. just curious how often you get asked about "the call" that Moneymaker made against you in the WSOP? And what your comments are on it...
I will argue till my dying DAY that his call w/ 33 against you in the 03 WSOP was one of the worst calls in the history of televised poker! Ok ok.. make that 2nd worst to Paul Phillips all in call w/ bottom straight vs Mel Judah in WPT season 1.. :)

PS: I added a link to your blog from mine.. feel free to do the same if you like. jarooty.blogspot.com
I'm also a fan of yours Dutch, just another 18 year old online poker prodigy/ whiz kid, except only a 1390 on my SATs and I didn't skip any grades... haha..
In reference to the above question about Moneymaker's call with 33... I'll be honest, I've thought quite a bit about this hand. I think it's a pretty good call. First off, I'm a good tournament player. Very much by the book... (vs say a guy like Marcel Luske who can play KJ vs QQ and have such a good read on his opponent) Anyways, I could never have made that call with 33. I would have probably put you on a hand like 77, 88, or 10 10. Even something like A9 is very possible. I think his call is very loose, as Moneymaker has made several loose calls in the past (check the 2004 WSOP, what was he even doing? He could have donated 10 grand to me, I'll need it for college). However, it is very possible for him to have put Dutch on only high cards... and in that case, it is a fabulous call. The 2003 WSOP makes me wonder... What would have happened if my boy Phil Hellmuth wouldn't have got busted as a 4 to 1 favorite? What if Phil Ivey wouldn't have gotten busted as a 9 to 1 favorite over Freddy Deeb (777 vs KK) or about the same odds vs Moneymaker (with 999QQ vs QQQ on turn)? What if Moneymaker would have folded and Dutch would have had 700k in chips? These are probably three of the better, if not the best three, left in the touranment at the point they went out. I wonder if that was the last chance for a pro to win, instead of an overaggressive heavy set fellow. Just a thought.
