Jesus, Joey!!!!

Taking the Chiplead

I'm pretty sure he just took the lead after busting out a player. This is when WSEX should really start taking bets... I'd put $100 that he goes all the way... :)

WPT Championship
No Limit Hold'em
Apr 23, 2006
17:49:43 EDT Joe Bartholdi takes a huge pot off David Matthews
Vanessa Rousso limped from early position, Carlos Zambrano limped from middle position, Joe Bartholdi limped from the button, Davidson Matthew limped from the small blind, and Erica Schoenberg checked the big blind. The flop came [9♣][5♣][2♦] with a check around to Bartholdi who bet 150k. Matthew was the only caller and the turn came [10♥]. Bartholdi bet 400k on the turn and Matthew raised to 1m. Bartholdi reraised to 1.8m and after long thought Matthew folded. Joe Bartholdi turned up [Q♦][7♦] for [Q] high saying, 'You should probably document this one.' After the hand Bartholdi was up to 5.2m and Matthew was left with 1.575m.

Joey Bartholdi

Joey is kicking ass in the WPT championship. There are two tables left and he has $1.5m in front of him. So strong! Bon chance, mon frere!

Erica Schoenberg is also still in it... this could be a crew vs. outlaws one-two finish. And don't forget Johnny Bax. Tough competition.

Paris Hilton - Round Two

So it seems Paris lost her family's Bentley in a cardgame and is now forbidden to play poker. I guess it happens to everyone from time to time... read about it.

Paris Hilton

Just read in a little newsbite that Paris Hilton is now "addicted" to poker. You might know who Paris Hilton is... she's currently most famous for her role as Paige Edwards in the under-appreciated movie House of Wax. She'll probably be most remembered, though, for producing and starring in the soon-to-be-released blockbuster National Lampoon's Pledge This! (I plan on betting heavy on the over when it comes out).

She says :

"I'm obsessed with poker. It's my favourite game now. We love it. We play at tournaments in Vegas. I'm really lucky in Vegas - I always win!"

I actually met Paris Hilton one time at The Standard in Santa Monica. Bobby was there too. This was a few weeks before her show came out, so I didn't know she was going to become the hottest reality tv star in the history of the genre. If I'd known that, I might have worked up the nerve to actually introduce myself instead of just chilling out in silence next to my exgf. She had a copy of the pilot episode of The Simple Life with her and we got the sneak peek because of some common friends.

Now that Paris plays poker, the game is officially hot.

So just to throw it out there. Paris. If you are reading this and want some lessons, shoot me a line. I'll teach you what I know about poker if you teach me what you know about being lucky.

They've Finally Done It...

Yesterday might have been the day that poker changed forever. A major operation has finally gone rakefree. And the best thing about them is that they aren't even going to be charging a membership fee. No tournament juice. NOTHING!

Now I know what you're all thinking... this has been tried before. Zerorake.com. Dead. CardCrusade.com. Dead. What's going to be different with this one? Well, my friends... the difference is that we're talking about WSEX.com!

That name might not be big in the poker world yet... but it is one of the biggest sportsbooks/casinos around. They've been in the internet gambling business since the beginning. It was one of their head guys, in fact, who was the only guy ever convicted of the 18 USC 1084 wire act because he actually came back to NY and fought the charges. They are big and I can say with confidence that they aren't going to disappear.

In fact, they are the company that I lost those movie bets on... that's actually why they are going rakefree. They feel like offering free poker will drive a lot of traffic to their sportsbook and casino. I'm sure they are right on... especially if they keep offering poker prop bets... I put $200 down that Mizrachi wins CardPlayer POY.

This could be huge. It's almost like WSEX is flipping all the big cardrooms off. They're basically saying they are big enough and have enough arms generating revenue that they don't need their poker arm to be profitable... and they are using it as a loss leader.

I'm going to check it out and report back. But I'm going to find their tournament schedule and I invite everyone reading to join me in supporting rakefree poker by setting up an account and playing in a tournament this weekend with me. Please tell everyone you know about this big leap forward. They've provided the place... now it's up to us to make sure it stays.
