Going on NeverWinPoker's Radio Show Tomorrow

In an effort to promote my new site, Poker Tells, I've decided to go on Never Win Poker's radio show with Micon the Icon and Dan Druff. I hang out sometimes with both of them, and I really like the NWP site and crew. Never win is one of the only poker forums to be unmoderated. They always have the best gossip first... but it's also kind of a cess pool filled with a degenerate generation. Being unmoderated means that if you post on NWP, there's a very good chance someone is going to reply with a picture of some ugly people engaged in ungodly sex acts. This might be the low-point in my media appearances.

Anyway, the show starts tomorrow (Wed. Sep 3, 2008) at 7pm PST and runs until 9pm. I hope you get a chance to tune in and listen... to check it out go to the website... NeverWinPoker.com. Also, if you have any questions you want me to answer on the air, email me at dutch@tilt.fm.

ReviewPoker.com at auction

Hi everyone,

I have received an offer for ReviewPoker.com from a member here on the forums and decided to start a Sedo auction for the name. I originally planned to start a site with the domain name which would hold contests for the best-written review of a certain poker site. A new poker site would be used every contest period and all submissions would become the owner of ReviewPoker.com. That way, I would have an almost endless supply of unique, original content for different landing pages for poker affiliate pages.

Anyway, I decided not to pursue the project under that domain name and instead sell it. In my experience of selling domain names, a name like this to the right end-user would go for $5,000. The domain's opening bid was for $250.

Please check out this auction here. This is a once-in-a-blue-moon opportunity to own a beautiful poker domain name for less than end-user prices.

Another eBay Auction

I've been having bad luck with my poker domain name auctions, so I figured I'd try selling off a non-poker domain name. I picked out one that I thought was kind of cool, spent a little more time than I'd like to admit slapping together a little mini-site for it, and voila! A website... not just a domain name. I'm hoping that by putting in a little development time, the domain name will go for a lot more on eBay than the $x.xx bids I've been getting for a lot of my less-than-fabulous domain names.

The domain is BilboCentral.com and I set it up to be a Lord of the Rings site. I spent a little time digging for a good LOTR website template. Then I slapped up a little paragraph about The Hobbit movie and threw in a couple links to LOTR websites. Maybe it's a little lame, but I loved The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

Here's the text of the eBay ad. Help a player out and go bid a little bit. :)

-----

BilboCentral.com

Up for auction is this mini website and domain name. It's perfect for a Lord of the Rings themed website. I started to put up a little website about the upcoming Hobbit movie. But now I want to focus on another website, so I've decided to try and sell the site for millions right here on eBay. Please help me realize that dream. I put hours putting this site together. The ending of this listing is a long ways away... and you KNOW someone is just going to bid more in the last hour of the auction, anyway. So what's the harm?

Honestly, though... this is a great domain name and a great start to what could be a nice, little profitable website about everything related to the LOTR universe. Or maybe your first name is actually Bilbo, and you can use this for your personal blog. All of the content on the site is yours to use however you wish. I created the site to be easily used with banner programs like Google Adsense. You can setup an eBay store where you sell Fellowship of the Ring DVDs, or The Two Towers movie posters, or The Return of the King action figures. Setup a collectible card game buying and selling site and make millions of dollars arbitraging the CCG commodities market. The world is yours for the taking, and it starts with this fabulous website.

The website includes the domain name BilboCentral.com, which is registered at GoDaddy. You will also get the .html files. The site currently gets about 7 unique visitors a day.

Domain names are today's real estate. When they were introduced, they were snapped up on a first-come first-serve basis. Owning a domain name is like owning a little piece of land... or in the case of some domain names, it's like owning a small city. Domain names are every bit the commodity as corn or oil or an acre of land. Investing in a domain name or website has proven to be a very good investment and the value of a good domain is always rising. We are moving to the metaverse. Will you be ready?

This domain and website was brought to you by JackNames. We are domainers and developers with a portfolio of thousands of domain names. We also offer services such as domain appraisals and domain brokering. We have sold dozens of domains on eBay and have a 100% feedback rating, so bid with confidence.

My Playlist and Full Tilt Poker Affiliate Stuff

I decided to put my playlist back up. This is the music I listen to when I play poker, and I really believe it gets me in the right mood to clean up the poker tables. If I had to pick one song on the playlist to be my personal poker themesong, it would have to be Talisman by Air. I used to listen to that song every day when I was playing as a prop player in San Jose during the drive from the house I was sharing with a poker buddy to Garden City.

I wasn't having much luck with the Full Tilt affiliate button. Honestly, isn't everyone already a user of Full Tilt? If you aren't, you should go signup now (and use the bonus code "Dutch" so I get a little kickback! :) I play on Full Tilt Poker as Dutchalicious and in my opinion it's the safest place to play. I feel very confident in the people behind the site.

If you have a website or just want to try to make a little money off of getting your poker buddies to signup, you should check out the affiliate program they've got. If you've got a website, you basically just copy and paste a banner link and you can get credit anytime someone signs up. If you don't have a website, you can still get a bonus code to tell people to use when they signup. One of the cool things about the affiliate program is that if you have an account, you can setup private poker tournaments. Anyway, I put the link to their poker affiliate program below.

Relaunch of PokerTells.com

After taking the site down for about a year, I've now relaunched PokerTells.com which is a website with some information about poker tells. Right now it has a few articles up. Two of them I wrote, including "Common Poker Tells" which is a list of tells I cooked up, and "How to Spot a Tell" which just talks about how you go about getting a tell on a player. The website also has one of my all-time favorite articles by Daniel Negreanu called "The Truth About Tells". It's definitely worth a read.

The site's not done yet, but I'm pretty proud of how it looks so far. I've heard Caro's videos are on youtube right now, and I'm going to look into embedding them on the site. I'm also looking into affiliate programs and whatnot for advertising. There's quite a few affiliate programs for poker websites. I've been thinking of starting a little blog about my poker affiliate research... figuring out which ones are easiest to setup, easiest to manage, and convert traffic the best. I put space for five advertisers on the site, and if you have a site you would like to advertise, please feel free to email me at dutch @ tilt.fm.

If you have a blog, it would be awesome if you gave the site a little shoutout with a link. I'm going to be spending the next couple of weeks trying to get links to the site so that hopefully I can get it ranked in the search engines for when people do a google search for "poker tells". If you want to exchange links, hit me up at the same email address above.

Anyway, go check out the site and let me know what you think of it. :)

Congratulations Yuvee!

One of my buddies, Yuval Bronshtein aka "yuvee04", just made online poker history yesterday when he won TWO Ftops events at Full Tilt on the same day. Amazing. If you could buy stock in people, I'd be picking his up all day. Yesterday now makes three FTOPS titles under his belt... he's only 24, and just really started playing more live, so watch out for him on the live circuit. Yuval is a really cool cat and he's easy to recognize in any poker room because of his bright red mohawk. Take my word for it... he'll be one of the next big stars in poker if he wants to be.

The Vatican Extension

So here's something you might not know that I thought was pretty interesting. Every country pretty much has it's own Internet domain extension... so while .com, .net, and .org are really big in the US, .ca is where it's at in Canada and .co.uk is used in England and so on. Well, the Vatican has it's own extension... .va. That's how much pull the Catholic church has. And nobody can use it... it's only for official church websites. www.vatican.va.

PokerHustler.com and Other Domain Names For Sale

So I got a hundred for the IronAces.com domain name... definitely not the thousands I was hoping for, but it's a start. I've got a pretty big portfolio of domain names and am going to start trimming it down slowly over the next few months. So now I'm offering the following domains for sale. By the time you're reading this, you've probably gotten knocked out of all the big tournaments on Suicide Sunday... consider a better use of your $215. :)

PokerHustler.com
PokerHustlers.com

PokerHustler.com is one of my oldest domain names. I registered back in 2001 when I first started picking them up. Old domain names are generally better than new ones because when you develop a site and start submitting to search engines, they often give preference to domain names that are old. I picked up PokerHustlers.com in 2004to make sure if I developed PokerHustler.com that people wouldn't get confused and type in the plural version. So you've got your bases covered with these. It's a great, brandable pair that I'm selling together. Click here to bid.

Disguisable.com
This is one of my generic one-word domain names... I picked it up since I figured it had mild attachments to poker... disguising aces by limping or whatever. It's a good domain name to develop or to just hold onto as an investment. It's an atual word in the dictionary... and since there are only about 70,000 words in the english language, every single one of them have been picked up a long time ago by other domainers and are somewhat rare and hard to come by. Click here to bid.

PunchPoker.com
Another older domain name, registered since 2004. I don't know why, but I kind of like it. I think it would be a great name for a poker skin. Click here to bid.

Domain Name Lot
CasinoPokerPro.com, SeekABet.com, TwosAreWild.com, GambleInTheUK.com, NoLimitRoom.com
I'm selling these domain names altogether as one lot. A couple of them would be good at targetting certain search terms... CasinoPokerPro.com and GambleInTheUK.com (foreign traffic is pretty valuable right now ever since the UIGEA hit). I think TwosAreWild.com would be a great name for a blog. NoLimitRoom.com is a decent brand for an online poker skin. Don't ask me why you might want SeekABet.com... I couldn't tell you, but I figured I'd throw it in there. Click here to bid.

IronAces.com for sale

I'm trying to raise a little money by selling some poker domain names. The first one I'm going to sell is IronAces.com. I was going to use this poker domain as an online poker forum, but I've decided to sell it instead. Included in the sale is this logo which I had developed for the project. This is the perfect name for any online poker site you might be working on... a poker forum, a poker league, an online poker training site, an online poker directory, etc. The domain is being sold on eBay with no reserve and I put the starting bid in for a penny. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a really fabulous domain name. Please click here to visit the auction or click on the logo below.

Obama and the Series So Far

I've got a little admission to make. Even after 3 years of law school, I'm not very political at all. I've never even voted. It's hard to get me too excited over the presidential races especially. In my opinion, the president has very little power to affect meaningful long-term change. And usually they're not really trying to do much. It's like the Who sang... "Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss."

But this year seems kind of different to me. Obama has clinched the democratic nomination (I've pretty much lost a bet I made with Gavin Smith when Clinton was way ahead on intrade). I'm pretty happy about it. This is the first time I think we're in a position to actually see some meaningful change as the result of an election.

I'll get real with you... I don't think Obama would really change the US that much. After his term would be over, the US will probably be pretty identical to how it is now. If there are big changes, it's more to the credit or fault of the senate and house. But there is one thing that will change if Obama is elected. Twenty years from now when some black kid is being taught in school that he can do anything with his life, they'll point at Obama and the kid will believe them. It would also be a very big step and perhaps one of the final steps towards racial equality here in our country. I like McCain just fine... but I want to see our country have a black president. It's that simple.

Joey and I have been talking about what we can do to help see Obama elected. I registered to vote. I donated a bit to the campaign (also donated to Ron Paul... would have been really cool to see an Independent have a shot at the office). I went online and ordered three Obama tshirts, and have been wearing them around town and to some of the WSOP events.

But today we did something really cool. A bit ago, Joey wrote a song about Obama and today we did a little demo with Joey on acoustic and vocals, my buddy Danny on lead guitar, me on keyboard, and Joey's girlfriend Sara on drums. It's a little rough, but it doesn't sound half bad really. Joey wants to do a cleaner more professional version... I want to mix in an Obama speech over the beat somewhere... and we're thinking of a video on Youtube. But it is what it is... we have a demo of the song. Click on the picture to download, listen, spread.

The series hasn't been going well. Have played an event almost every day and still haven't even cashed. But I feel like I'm playing well and things are going to change. I've never had a down series since I've started coming out here to Vegas every sweltering summer. We can cash. Yes we can.
